LAMPASAS – The Brownwood Lions’ two-game District 6-4A baseball win streak came to an end with a 10-0, six-inning loss to Lampasas Friday night.
Trailing 1-0 heading to the bottom of the fifth inning, the Lions (6-12-1, 3-5) gave up six runs in that frame and three more in the sixth as Lampasas (4-15, 3-5) enforced the 10-run mercy rule.
The loss puts the Lions back in fifth place despite being tied with Lampasas and Glen Rose (8-12, 3-5), as Brownwood posted 1-2 records against both teams.
The Lions were limited to five hits – a double by Campbell Gilmore and singles from Case Markham, Logan Posey, Cole Miller, and Kyle Ivy.
On the mound, Gavin Brandstetter worked five innings and gave up seven runs on eight hits with eight strikeouts. David Turner tossed the final 2/3s of an inning and gave up three runs on four hits.
Brownwood is back in action at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Gatesville (9-11, 4-2).
