Earlier this month, seven Brown County student-athletes competed in the Texas High School Powerlifting State meets.
In boys action, Bangs’ Ian Cortez came in seventh in the 165-pound weight class in Division III in Abilene with 1,370 pounds lifted – 540 in the squat, 515 in the deadlift, and 315 in the bench press.
Early Longhorn Brooks Clippinger, in the 220s, was listed as being disqualified.
In girls action in the Class 4A Big School Girls draw, Brownwood’s Ashlyn Harris finished 13th in the 220s with 820 pounds lifted – 375 in the squat, 260 in the deadlift, and 180 in the bench.
In the Class 3A Big School Girls division, Early’s Danielle Alcorta was fourth in the 148s with 840 pounds lifted – 335 in the squat, 320 in the deadlift, and 185 in the bench.
Early’s Alyne Celedon finished seventh in the 181s with a 915 total – 385 in the squat, 330 in the deadlift, and 200 in the bench.
Hannah Middleton, in the 114s, placed 13th with 640 pounds lifted – 265 in the deadlift, 245 in the squat, 130 in the bench.
Competing in the Class 3A Girls Small School division, Bangs’ Lindsay Campos was 12th in the 132s with 665 pounds lifted – 270 in the deadlift, 260 in the squat, and 135 in the bench.
