Ella Ann (Wells) Jernigan, age 78, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022, in Midlothian, Texas. She was born September 21, 1943, to Edwin Louis and Sarah (Willson) Wells in Brownwood. She graduated from Brownwood High School in 1962.
Ella married her husband, Bobby Joe Jernigan, on May 17, 1975. They lived and raised their children in Arlington for 34 years. After Bobby passed in May 2009, Ella worked and lived part time in Wichita Falls where she was close to her brothers. In 2018, Ella moved to Midlothian, to be with her daughter, Shannon, and family.
Ella spent most of her career as an Office Manager and Accountant at National Linen Service, Lipton Staple Company, and several other small businesses in the DFW area. She was a hard worker and did her best to help provide for her family her entire life.
Ella was very hard-headed and opinionated, but she loved her family with her whole heart. She loved to spend her free time bargain shopping and bragging about all of the deals she got. And if you ask her friends, she loved to brag about her grandkids a lot too.
Ella is survived by: Sarah “Cricket” Hargrove of Arlington; Shannon (Saul) Rodriguez of Midlothian; Tammy (Abraham) Ayala of Wichita Falls; granddaughters Danielle Hargrove, Taylor Hargrove, Alexia Rodriguez, Cassidy Rodriguez, and several great-grandchildren; brothers Floyd (Patty) Wells of Wichita Falls, TX, Lloyd (Anna) Wells of Wichita Falls, and Andy (Andrea) Wells of Wichita Falls; many other friends and family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Bobby Joe Jernigan; her parents Edwin Louis and Sarah Wells; brother Clarence Ernest Wells; brother Edwin Lee Wells; and brother Danny Louis Wells.
We love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck. We know you are happy to be reunited with daddy/papa. Give him a big hug and kiss from us all.
Heartland Funeral Home in Early is in charge of arrangements. Visitation is scheduled from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Saturday, March 26, 2022, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM at Indian Creek Cemetery, where Ella will be laid to rest next to her husband.
