As of 6:00 pm Monday, firefighters from many area counties were working to contain two major wildfires, one in Coleman County and one in Mills County. According to the Texas A&M Forest Service:
Texas A&M Forest Service has responded to a request for assistance on the #CrewsGapFire, western Coleman County and eastern Runnels County. The fire is an estimated 2,500 acres and 0% contained. The fire is wind driven and moving quickly in juniper and brush. Aviation has been ordered to assist. Tankers were beginning drops on the fire.
The #Mills1511Fire in Mills County will now be called #3OaksFire. The fire remains an estimated 300 acres and 0% contained. Aviation resources has been requested.
