SAN ANGELO – The Brownwood Lions baseball team slipped to 0-2 on the season with an 11-7 loss to San Angelo Lake View Tuesday.
The Lions took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning, but yielded eight runs in the bottom of the third. Brownwood tacked on two runs each in the fourth and fifth innings to close the gap to 8-5, but Lake View responded with its final three runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Lions added two more runs in the top of the seventh inning, but the rally ended there.
Brownwood finished with six hits – two by David Turner and one each from Case Markham, Cole Miller, Gavin Brandstetter, and Logan Posey. Jordyn Nickerson was credited with the Lions’ only RBI as Lake View walked two and committed two errors.
On the mound, Aidan Howard, Campbell Gilmore, Jake Reaves, Quentin McCarty and Kyle Ivy combined to allow seven earned runs on 10 hits with six strikeouts and four walks.
Defensively, the Lions committed six errors.
Brownwood is slated to take part in the Stephenville tournament Thursday through Saturday.
