As of early Wednesday morning, there was light drizzle falling over mainly northern Brown County but so far road conditions are good. As of 6:55 am, the temperature at Brownwood Regional Airport was 25 degrees with a wind chill of 12.
From KOXE Meteorologist Randy Turner, there will be occasional light sleet or freezing rain during the day Wednesday but the prime time for sleet and freezing rain is Wednesday night through about noon on Thursday. As a result, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Brown and neighboring counties through noon Thursday.
“Based on the high resolution computer model this morning, sleet and freezing rain is forecast to increase from late this afternoon, through the overnight and until about noon Thursday. Amounts from a tenth to quarter inch are possible, likely causing hazardous driving conditions for the morning commute on Thursday morning,” Turner said.
Expect temperatures today (Wed) to remain below freezing, in the middle to upper 20’s, with wind chills between 12 to 18 degrees most of the day.
On Thursday afternoon, the precipitation will end, skies may even clear to allow some sunshine with highs projected around 35.
Any leftover ice/water on roads will refreeze Thursday night with a low near 20 but thawing continues on Friday as highs climb to the low 40’s.
