Funeral services for Denman Cain, age 71, of Lake Brownwood, will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 26, 2022, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
Denman passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022, in Brownwood.
Denman Elder Cain was born on August 21, 1950, in Jonah, Texas to Willie and Jackie Marie (Preston) Wilson. He graduated from Brownwood High School in 1968 and soon after married Jo Lynn Blevins at the Rocky Creek Baptist Church on December 21, 1968.
Denman went on to join the US Navy where he served in Vietnam. He was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal with Combat “V” device, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation and the Gallantry Cross with Palm and Frame.
Following his military service, Denman went on to have a long career with Allstate Insurance Company. Denman enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching football, and spending time with family. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3278.
Denman is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jo Lynn Cain of Lake Brownwood, a son, David Lynn Cain of Georgetown; four grandchildren, Brooke Cain Reynolds, Denman Bradley Cain, Evan David Cain and Jayden Daniel Cain; two great-grandchildren, Bryson Samuel Reynolds and Jakob Denman Cain; his siblings, Cloise Graves, Lee Graves, Sonja Deeds, Kevin Stacy, and Jesse Wilson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a son, Denman Carrol Cain, his parents, and a sister, Melody Hope Lavrov.
