The Howard Payne University women’s basketball team dropped its season finale 86-60 to Hardin0Simmons University Saturday afternoon at the Mabee Athletic Complex
HPU’s Bria Neal led all scorers with 20 points along with a team high seven rebounds. Neal was 6 of 7 at the free-throw line.
Hardin-Simmons shot 50% from the field and held HPU to 18.2% shooting in the second quarter to gain a 51-25 halftime lead.
Both teams played even the rest of the way out in the 86-60 Hardin-Simmons final.
The Lady Jackets outshot the Cowgirls percentage wise in the second half connecting on 47% of their shots and holding HSU to 38% shooting.
HPU senior Lily Janek finished with 12 points and senior Salina Ali had 11 points, five rebounds and a game-high eight assists for the Lady Jackets.
Hardin-Simmons was led by Samantha Tatum with 19 points followed by Parris Parmer with 13 points.
Howard Payne ends its season at 4-21 overall and 2-18 in American Southwest Conference action. Hardin-Simmons is now 18-4 overall and 13-4 in league play.
