Richard Don Bramlet, 81, of Luling, TX, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2022, with his son and his daughter lovingly by his side. A celebration of life will be held at the First Baptist Church in Blanket, TX on Friday 2/18/22 at 2pm, with the burial to follow at Moro Cemetery in Blanket under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.
Without question Richard was one of a kind. He was generous to all that knew him. He was ever ready with a joke on hand and a story to tell. Richard had so many different facets to him. He was a true Texas Gentleman and a jokester all in the same. Richard was well-read and well informed, often being an early adopter of new technologies. He had a deep curiosity about him that drove his many broad interests. A few of those included traveling, music, art, golf, photography, ranching, fishing, Texas history and family history. His travels took him all over the country as well as all over the world. Even though he’ll always be a country boy at heart, Richard loved that there is so much more out there in the world to explore and learn from. If his passing has taught us anything it is to live every day to its fullest and hug the ones you love while you can.
Richard was born July 10th, 1940, in Midland, TX to Orien and Mary Bramlet. In his early childhood the Bramlet family moved to Blanket, TX. He grew up on the family dairy alongside his parents and sister Paula. His father, Orien Bramlet, preceded him in death on July 16th, 1961. After graduating High School, he went on to Howard Payne University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. After graduating he accepted an opportunity for sales training in Ohio selling bibles door to door. During this time, he was also in the Army Reserve. Moving on with his career he took a position in Austin, TX, with the Texas Education Agency as an Account Auditor. After some time there he had the opportunity to purchase T.E.C.S., an educational consulting firm, to which he grew into a prosperous business. He had a lot of pride in the service they provided their customers over many years. In 1972 he met Cleta Newsom and they were later married in 1974. Together they share son Clint, daughter Amanda, and stepson Bart. His mother Mary Bramlet preceded him in death on December 23rd , 1989. Richard is survived by his ex-wife Cleta, son Clint, daughter Amanda, stepson Bart, sister Paula, grandson Brandon, and granddaughter Lauren.
