“Those guys were ready for us, it’s a great game, but a lot of stuck we need to work on going into the playoffs,” Parker said. “The effort was there, and I’m just really proud of the way our guys played. I hate being that guy that says that, but we had a lot guys out there pouring out everything they had not being at 100 percent.”
The Lions (22-9, 6-2) – coming off a 75-67 home loss to Glen Rose – were tied with Lampasas (24-11, 7-1) at 17 after one quarter, trailed 39-38 at halftime and faced a 57-52 deficit through three quarters.
Brownwood was forced into a game of catch up most of the night, and once the Lions would pull in front – included late in the fourth quarter – Lampasas would fire back.
Jakob Hataway led the Lions with 22 points followed by Luke Moss with 17, Bryson Monroe with 13 and Ike Hall with 11 points off the bench.
Lampasas’ Nate Borchardt led all scorers with 36 points.
The Lions will face either Iowa Park or Vernon in the bi-district round of the playoffs next week.
