The Brownwood Lady Lions started their softball campaign with a 3-2 home victory over the Jim Ned Indians Tuesday.
The Lady Lions (1-0) scored single runs in the first and third innings, before Jim Ned (0-1) closed the gap to 2-1 in the top of the fifth. Brownwood tacked on its final run in the bottom of the fifth, while Jim Ned’s seventh-inning rally came up a run short.
Annie-Klein Allgood went the distance in the circle for Brownwood, yielding one earned run on seven hits with four strikeouts and one walk.
At the plate, Allgood finished 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs while Chloe Walls, Mia Lopez, Chelsey Covey, Hailey Snell and Jeniffer Romero logged hits as well. Walls also drew a walk from the leadoff spot.
Defensively, the Lady Lions overcame four errors in the field.
Brownwood is back in action at Anson at 5 p.m. Friday.
