On February 3, 2022, Heaven gained the most beautiful angel, Barbara Sue Gotcher, age 68. Her wings were ready, but our hearts were not. She was a Godly woman with a heart of gold and was instantly loved by all who met her. Anyone who came into her home was treated like family.
Barbara was born on November 15, 1953, to William Carl Owen and Mary Elizabeth Poindexter Owen in Lubbock. She met the absolute love of her life, Ricky Dale Gotcher, and they were married on June 8, 1969. She loved and cherished her husband and family. She and Ricky spent 53 years building a beautiful life together. They had a love that others only dreamt about.
Barbara and Ricky had two children, Jeannie Lynette and Ricky Dale Jr. She was the best mama and helped raise a whole herd of grandkids. She was “Memaw” to every kid she met. Barbara never missed a game, recital, band concert, rodeo, youth fair or vacation that included her babies.
She loved to sew, cook, can, read and ride her horse, Peppy. She and Ricky loved to fish together. Barbara also enjoyed her flowers, roses, and gardening. She was always in the middle of making something, usually to gift to someone else to let them know she was thinking about them.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Rick Gotcher of Brownwood; her kids, Ricky Gotcher Jr. and wife Christina of Bangs, Jeannie Wunderlich and husband Allen of Bangs; nine grandchildren: Erica Danielle Jordan, Emily Nicole Brown, Katelynn Rose Gotcher, Erin Elizabeth Gotcher, Nina Jalynn Gotcher, Caleb Riley Gotcher, Gideon Edward Gotcher, Madilynn Juniper Gotcher and Kinley Evette Gotcher. Barbara also had many bonus grandchildren including Jeramie Don Jordan and Courtney LaShae McMillian; her brother, William Carl Owen Jr.; and her sister, Tommie June Davis; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Barbara no doubt arrived at Heaven greeted by her parents; and 3 sisters, Wanda, JoAnn and Venita.
Celebration of Life for Barbara will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 11, 2022, at Haven of Hope Church in Brownwood with Brian Hall officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society at https://www.cancer.org/. Online condolences for the family are welcome at www.blaylockfuneralhome.com.
