The Howard Payne University women’s basketball team fell 85-56 to Belhaven University Saturday afternoon in conference action at the Brownwood Coliseum.
Howard Payne shot just 31.0% from the field, 15.8% from behind the arc with Belhaven countering with 50% shooting from the field in the game.
Bria Neal finished with 20 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Jackets. Amanda Turpin followed with 12 points off the bench for HPU.
Belhaven was led by Xhiir Burgess with 28 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.
Belhaven outrebounded Howard Payne 46-38 in the game.
Howard Payne is now 4-17 overall and 2-14 in American Southwest Conference play. Belhaven stands at 9-7 overall and 4-7 in league action. The Lady Jackets will play next at home versus the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Thursday at 5:30 pm.
