ABILENE – The Brownwood Lady Lions overcame a 2-1 halftime deficit to notch a 6-4 road victory over the Class 5A Abilene Cooper Lady Cougars Tuesday night at Shotwell Stadium.
“They fought their way back and I was really pleased with the way they played tonight,” Lady Lions second-year head coach Alexis Mosqueda said. “We knew going into this game that it may be our last pre-district game because of the weather this Friday and I wanted the girls to take advantage of this game. We came together and played as a team in the second half and the score reflected that.”
The Lady Lions (6-2-2) were sparked by three goals from Molly Oliver, a pair from Watts Jones and one from Kennedi Johnson.
The Brownwood girls and boys are slated to play at Sweetwater Friday in a 4 p.m. doubleheader, weather permitting.
