As of 3 p.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service placed Brown County and the surrounding area under a Winter Storm Warning from noon Wednesday through 6 p.m. Thursday.
A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet and ice are expected or occuring.
According to the National Weather Service, heavy mixed precipitation is expected with total snow accumulations of 2-4 inches along with light ice accumulations.
Precipitation is expected to begin across the Big Country, northern Concho Valley and northern Heartland Wednesday afternoon, then expand further south Wednesday evening.
Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. In addition, cold wind chills as low as -10 degrees could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of emergency.
