LAMPASAS – The Brownwood Lions golf team captured the team championship in Lampasas Monday, posting a 307 composite score for a four-stroke victory over Class 6A Belton in their first outing of the spring season.
“It was a great day and the best we’ve scored in a long time,” said Lions golf head coach David Jones. “Everybody in the district was here but Glen Rose, along with a bunch of a 5A and 6A schools. You can’t beat this start to the spring season.”
Sir Bubba Jones led the charge for the Lions with a round of 69, good for second place behind Wimberley’s Jaxon Donaldson (68). Hudson Reagan finished tied for third overall with a 72 followed by Ethan Waldrop with an 82, Liam McNeese with an 84 and Cobe Walker with an 88.
Other Brownwood golfers competing as medalists were Caleb Modawell (83) and Andrew Boren (104).
The Lions will be back in action Feb. 16 at Llano.
