Evelyn Melladee Rodgers

Evelyn Melladee Rodgers, 97 of Brownwood passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at her home. A visitation for Melladee will be on Monday, February 7th from 6-8 pm at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Graveside services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, February 8th at Eastlawn Memorial Park.

Melladee was born on Monday, May 5, 1924 in Brownwood to Elmo and Rosa Renfro. She attended and graduated from Owens High School in Owens, TX. Melladee married Hollis Rodgers in November of 1943 and the two began a life together that blessed them with a son. She was a member of the Brown County Riding Club that her husband Hollis started. Melladee enjoyed working with cattle. She worked for the Brownwood Cattle Auction and also the Eddes & Cole Cattle Auction. Melladee also worked for First National Bank in Brownwood for 20 years until she retired. She was also a member of the Salt Creek Baptist Church.

Melladee is survived by her son Gaylon Rodgers and his wife Runell of Odessa, TX; granddaughter Deanna Johnson of Waco, TX; grandson Brian Rodgers of Beaumont, TX; 4 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her husband Hollis Rodgers; her parents and siblings.
