Good Samaritan Ministries on Friday drew for its Deer Project winners, as Sue Trowbridge of Brownwood and Steven Woods of Mineral Wells were winners of $250 Visa gift cards, while Chris Cisneros of Early won the grand prize of a 16 cubic foot upright freezer.
A total of 19,283 pounds of venison were donated to Good Samaritan Ministries this deer season. The Deer Project is a program that pairs hunters and processors with Good Samaritan Ministries in the fight against food insecurity. All a hunter has to do during bow season or rifle season is take their legally tagged, legally harvested deer to one of five processors – Double R Processing in Brownwood, Lone Star Processing in Owens, Full Draw Processing in Rising Star, Santa Anna Custom Processing, and Potters Processing in Cross Plains – and donate the meat to Good Samaritan Ministries
GSM Executive Director Leesa Stephens and Maegan Caffey, Communications/Public Relations Specialist at Comanche Electric Cooperative, conducted the drawing.
