The following fishing reports are provided by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the week of January 26:
LAKE BROWNWOOD
Fishing is good. Water lightly stained; 45 degrees; 1.80 feet low. Fishing weather is good as we head into a weekend with consistent weather and good winds.
Largemouth bass are good with perch-like crankbaits, brown or green Texas-rigged plastic worms, chartreuse bladed spinners, and shaky head jigs near timber, rocky shorelines, and docks.
Crappie are good on minnows and jigs in brush piles and near bridge pilings.
White bass and hybrids are good on slabs, swimbaits, and live bait along the main lake channels, humps, and ridges. Look for birds diving over feeding schools of white bass.
Catfish are good on shrimp, chicken liver, and live bait.
LAKE CISCO
Fishing is slow. Water clear; 43 degrees; 3.45 feet low. Fishing is slow, with few anglers out on the lake, possibly due to weather.
Crappie are slow biting on live minnows.
Catfish are slow with a few bites on cut shad, but no catches to report.
LAKE COLEMAN
Fishing is fair. Water slightly stained; 45 degrees; 1.59 feet low. Fishing remains the same, and the forecast is looking good for fishing.
Hybrid stripers are fair on Rat-L-Traps chasing schools deeper, preferring silver coloring.
Largemouth bass are fair with topwater, worms, and jerkbaits just off the timber in deeper water and brush.
Crappie remain good on jigs off of points.
Catfish are fair with stinkbait and cut bait.
LAKE O.H. IVIE
Fishing is good. Water clear; 50 degrees; 16.19 feet low.
Bass fishing is good on swimbaits, jerkbaits, and Texas rigs with a creature off the points.
Crappie are good using small jigs in near brush piles.
LAKE PROCTOR
Fishing is slow. Water clear; 43 degrees; 1.85 feet low. Fishing continues to be slow and will fluctuate as the cold fronts move in.
Crappie are fair near brush piles in Copperas Creek Park on minnows and jigs.
Catfish are fair drifting in the high point area biting on cut bait.
White bass and hybrid stripers are slow on slabs.
Black bass are slow.
