The Brownwood City Council during Tuesday morning’s meeting unanimously approved the purchase of a new rock breaker for $16,300.
The Public Works departments, at the request of BMDD, demolished the old Icehouse slab and hauled the debris off to the Landfill. BMDD was invoiced for a small amount of labor and any damages to equipment in exchange for completing the project ($18,429.40).
The Water Department’s rock breaker was utilized to break up all the concrete. This type of work is very harsh on the equipment. Therefore, the Water Department would like to use some of the funds to buy a new rock breaker at a cost of $16,300. The unit will be charged to the Water Department’s budget, which will require a budget amendment at the end of the year.
The City Council also unanimously approved setting May 7 as the date for election for the Ward 1 and 4 positions, as well as mayor. H.D. Jones is the current Ward 1 council member and Draco Miller represents Ward 4.
