STEPHENVILLE – The Brownwood Lady Lions wrapped up the first half of District 6-4A girls basketball in fourth place following Friday night’s 51-28 road loss to No. 24 Stephenville.
The Lady Lions (18-11, 1-3) led 10-6 late in the first period, but Stephenville (20-9, 3-1) drew even by the end of the quarter and opened a 23-15 halftime lead. Through three frames, Brownwood – which did not convert a three-point field goal the entire game – faced a 41-21 deficit.
Jaylen Savage led Brownwood with 12 points trailed by Tessa Goodwin with six, Kynslee Walker with five, Lexi Greer with three, and Mady Pyle with two points.
The Lady Lions visit No. 8 Glen Rose (26-4, 4-0) at 6 p.m. Tuesday to start the second half of league play.
