This month all three Brown County cities (Brownwood, Bangs, and Early) received increased sales tax allocations from the Texas Comptroller’s Office. And once again Early had the largest increase, nearly doubling its sales tax allocation from a year ago. The January allocation reflects retail sales in November 2021. The numbers are below:
BROWNWOOD
The City of Brownwood received $510,548 in January, an increase of 7.00% from January 2021. Fiscal year-to-date (October 2021 through January 2022) Brownwood has received $2,137,266, an increase of 10.60% over the previous year.
The Brownwood Municipal Development District received $174,452 in January, an increase of 10.25% over January 2021. Fiscal YTD is $701,672, up 11.74% over the previous year.
EARLY
The City of Early received $198,746 in January, an increase of 91.01% over January 2021. Fiscal year-to-date in Early is $737,219, up 54.33% over the previous year.
The Early Municipal Development District received $65,781 in January, up 92.75% over January 2021. Fiscal YTD is $241,602, up 55.75% over the previous year.
BANGS
The City of Bangs received $17,240 in January, an increase of 23.53% over January 2021. Fiscal year-to-date is $74,950, up 22.20% over the previous year.
The Bangs Municipal Development District received $2,699 in January, an increase of 20.81% over January 2021. Fiscal YTD is $11,311, up 22.44% over the previous year.
