The Early Longhorns and Lady Horns both picked up District 8-3A basketball road victories over Dublin Friday night.
In the Lady Horns’ 44-35 triumph, Madison Torrez led Early (9-14, 3-4) with 16 points followed by Dana Lykes with eight, Carrigan Norris with seven, Taylor Summers with six, Jordan Simmons with four and Caroline Welker with three points.
The Longhorns earned a 77-74 overtime win over Dublin to improve to 16-8 on the season and 3-2 in District 8-3A competition. No further information was available.
In Eastland Friday, the Bangs Lady Dragons suffered a heartbreaking 43-42 loss to the host Lady Mavs. Bangs (8-17, 1-6) trailed 17-12 at halftime but carried a 29-24 lead into the fourth period that it could not hold. Maggie Morales poured in 11 points for Bangs followed by Kasey Solis with 10 and Brooklann Mullins with seven.
Also Friday, the Dragons dropped a 68-36 decision at Eastland to slip to 0-4 in district action and 2-9 on the season.
