EARLY – The Early Longhorns evened their District 8-3A basketball record at 2-2 and improved to 15-8 overall with a 52-42 home victory over Eastland Tuesday night.
Vic Cooper led the Longhorns with 25 points followed by Jeremy Brown with nine, Jaxyn Price with eight, Korbin Barr with five, Andrew Caten and Dalton Adams with two each, and John Hill with one point.
The Longhorns and Lady Horns will visit Dublin Friday night.
In other 8-3A basketball action Tuesday, the Early Lady Horns fell to Eastland, 51-38; the Bangs Lady Dragons were thumped by No. 5 Peaster, 76-25; and the Bangs-Peaster boys game was postponed due to illness on both sides. A makeup date has not yet been announced.
The Early girls are now 2-4 in district and 8-14 overall, the Bangs girls slipped to 1-5 in league play and 8-16 overall, and the Bangs boys are 0-3 in 8-3A play and 2-8 for the season.
For the Early girls, Madison Torrez finished with 16 points followed by Carrigan Norris and Dana Lykes with eight each, and Caroline Welker, Jordan Simmons and Dakota Barksdale with two points apiece.
Maggie Morales scored 13 points in the Bangs girls game and Jadyn Miller added eight points.
Bangs ventures to Eastland Friday.
