Down 17-15 after one quarter and 31-25 halftime, the Lady Lions closed the gap to 33-32 in the third period before Lampasas reeled off seven points in a row and 12 of the next 14 to pull away from 13th-year head coach Heather Hohertz’s squad.
The Lady Lions shot 26 percent (14 of 53) from the floor, including 24 percent (6 of 25) on three-pointers, while hitting 64 percent (9 of 14) of their free throws. Brownwood committed just 15 turnovers but also pulled down only 19 rebounds.
Brownwood was sparked by Mady Pyle’s 16 points, 10 from Jaylen Savage, eight from Tessa Goodwin, six from Kynslee Walker and three points from Dakota Simpson.
Lampasas (23-6, 2-0) was led by Morgan Lovejoy with 23 points and Addison Borchardt with 15.
The Lady Lions are back in action at 6 p.m. Friday as they host Gatesville.
