The Brownwood School Board of Trustees, in their meeting Monday night, January 10, accepted and approved the 2020-2021 Audit Report. The audit was performed this year for the first time by Pattillo, Brown & Hill, L.L.P., Certified Public Accountants in Waco. Representing the firm Monday night was John Manning, CPA (shown in photo) who said the BISD received an unmodified opinion which concluded that the financial statements of the school district were presented fairly.
“Of the four types of audit opinions that we can offer, the unmodified is the highest level of assurance we can offer,” Manning said.
“It was an unmodified opinion which is what we always look for,” said Dr. Joe Young, BISD Superintendent. “We always look for somebody to come in to be sure that we’re doing things the right way and that we are spending the dollars like we say we’re spending them and that we are accounting for everything like we should. Mr. Moore has done a great job since March of 2020 when he took over in the business office, correcting a few issues that we had and getting those things straightened out. I think the audit has proven that over the last two years. It’s just gotten better and better,” Young said.
“All in all, for the first year, I think it went really well,” Manning added.
