GATESVILLE – The Brownwood Lady Lions picked up their second win of the soccer season Saturday, defeating tournament host Gatesville by a 2-0 count Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Lions (2-0-1) first scored 10 minutes into the contest as Kennedi Johnson found the net following a throw-in by Sydney Stewart – her sixth goal of the season. Four minutes into the second half, Molly Oliver tacked on an insurance goal – her second of the 2022 campaign – with an assist from Marisa Campos.
“It was a good weekend, I’m proud of the way the girls played,” said Lady Lions second-year head coach Alexis Mosqueda. “A lot of younger girls stepped into big roles with the injuries that we have.”
The Lady Lions are back in action at 6 p.m. Tuesday as they welcome Burnet to Gordon Wood Stadium.
