DUBLIN – The Brownwood Lions secured their third straight victory and a third-place finish at the Dublin basketball tournament Saturday with a 70-65 triumph over the Early Longhorns.
Brownwood (5-3) led Early (4-4) by a 19-16 count after one quarter and 38-33 at halftime, but the Longhorns pulled even at 49 heading into the fourth period.
The Lions were led by 23 points from Christian Kinzler, 16 from Byrson Monroe, 10 from Weston Burns, seven from Jakob Hataway, six from Luke Moss, and five points from Thad Hinds.
Early received 18 points from Vic Cooper, 12 from Korbin Barr, nine points from John Hill, seven from John-Stewart Gordon, five from Kaleb Hoffman, and four each from Jeremy Brown, Camden Gamblin, and Alex Perez.
The Lions are back in action at 7 p.m. Tuesday as they visit San Angelo Lake View, while the Longhorns host Abilene High at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
