Three state-ranked local football teams continue their hopeful marches to AT&T Stadium in Arlington as the May Tigers and Richland Springs attempt to advance to the state semifinals, while the Coleman Bluecats vie for a berth in the regional championship game.

CLASS A DIVISION I REGION IV CHAMPIONSHIP
#1 May (12-0) vs. #2 Water Valley (12-0)

The two top-ranked teams in Class A Division I will square off for the Region IV championship and a berth in the state semifinals as the May Tigers battle the Water Valley Wildcats.
The Tigers have defeated Borden County (51-6), Sterling City (104-80), Knox City (65-16), Evant (63-6), Blum (77-14), and Newcastle (55-0), as well as District 13 foes Gorman (54-0), Santa Anna (58-0), Baird (82-34), Lingleville (54-8), Irion County (68-20), and Jonesboro (84-55).
Water Valley owns victories this season over Robert Lee (60-0), Blackwell (51-0), Garden City (54-8), Westbrook (55-34), Borden County (62-22), Highland (68-6), Irion County (78-32), Veribest (67-0), Eden (71-18), Paint Rock (47-0), Gorman (58-0), and Lometa (58-8).
For the season, the Tigers are averaging 68 points and 309 yards – 187 rushing and 122 passing – per game.
Leading the way on the ground are Kaden Halk (727 yards, 17 TDs), Avery Williford (639 yards, 17 TDs), Blake Harrell (470 yards, 9 TDs), Damian Salinas (187 yards, 6 TDs), and Braden Steele (155 yards, 2 TDs).
Through the air, Harrell has completed 42 of 68 passes for 1,078 yards with 21 touchdowns and two interceptions, while Luke McKenzie has connected 19 of 31 attempts for 338 yards with 12 scoring tosses and one interception.
Top receiving threats include Halk (15-327, 7 TDs), Williford (12-348, 8 TDs), Kaysen King (9-224, 4 TDs), Salinas (8-203, 6 TDs), and Brian Kunkel (7-163, 4 TDs).
Defensively, the Tigers are allowing 20 points per game and have forced 44 turnovers – 31 fumble recoveries and 13 interceptions – with 14 touchdowns. The Class A Division II No. 3 Richland Springs Coyotes continue their pursuit of a potential 10th state championship as they clash with the Oakwood Panthers for the Region IV championship with a berth in the state semifinals at stake.
Richland Springs carries a nine-game win streak into Friday’s contest with victories over Coolidge (66-32), Nueces Canyon (70-22), Fort Worth Covenant Classical (119-112), Rochelle (79-30), Cherokee (92-70), Mullin (48-0), Lohn (54-0), Sidney (58-8), and Oglesby (53-0).
Oakwood is in the midst of a five-game win streak after a 3-3 start, having knocked off Apple Springs (63-0), Chester (71-31), Calvert (48-26), Mount Calm (65-0), and Cherokee (52-16).
For the season, District 16 champion Richland Springs is averaging 67 points and 364 yards – 276 rushing and 88 passing per game – with seven turnovers, while giving up 34 points and 257 yards – 194 passing and 63 rushing – per contest, with 17 takeaways.
Leading the way on the ground are Jadeyn Bryant (1,343 yards, 33 TDs), Zane Capps (937 yards, 22 TDs), and Keston Lusty (410 yards, 7 TDs).
Through the air, Bryant has completed 30 of 48 passes for 693 yards with 15 touchdowns, while Capps has connected 10 of 18 attempts for 174 yards with two scoring tosses.

In a battle of state-ranked unbeatens, the Coleman Bluecats and Hawley Bearcats will attempt to secure a berth in the Class 2A Division I Region I championship game.
Coleman enters the contest with wins over Miles (24-0), Anson (33-6), Grape Creek (49-0), Colorado City (63-13), De Leon (47-0), Goldthwaite (42-6), Cisco (31-7), San Saba (49-7), Winters (42-0), Anson (62-12), and Post (43-0).
Hawley this season has defeated Roscoe (34-14), Hamlin (62-0), Merkel (41-7), Winters (49-0), Bangs (54-0), Haskell (43-0), Stamford (42-0), Anson (35-0), Colorado City (55-0), Forsan (24-21), San Saba (56-9) and Sundown (40-22).
The Bluecats have produced 44 points and 381 yards – 297 rushing and 84 passing – per contest, while giving up 5 points and 147 yards – 75 rushing and 72 passing – per game with 20 takeaways and five shutouts.
The ground game is sparked by quarterback Jadin Jackson (880 yards, 16 TDs), Ryland Gentry (824 yards, 13 TDs), Devinar Roberson (480 yards, 7 TDs), Cort McFadden (415 yards, 6 TDs) and R.J. Wright (212 yards, 3 TDs).
