ZEPHYR – The Class A Division II No. 3 Richland Springs Coyotes made quick work of the Sidney Eagles Friday night en route to a 58-8 victory in Region IV bi-district playoff action.
District 16 champion Richland Springs (8-1), fresh off its 20th consecutive league title, jumped to a 36-0 lead over District 15 runner-up Sidney (4-6) after one quarter and ended the game at halftime due to the 45-point mercy rule.
The Coyotes generated 307 yards of total offense – 207 rushing and 100 passing – with no turnovers, while limiting the Eagles to 86 yards – 68 through the air and 18 on the ground – with a pair of takeaways.
Richland Springs’ Jadeyn Bryant rushed for 109 yards and four touchdowns – from 45, 1, 40, and 1 yard out – and completed 3 of 4 passes for 100 yards with scoring tosses of 48 yards to Zane Capps and 27 yards to Cohen Tharp.
Capps added 56 yards rushing with a 48-yard touchdown carry, Keston Lusty chipped in 42 yards on the ground and added a 33-yard scoring sprint, and Jayden Sutherland pulled down a 25-yard reception.
Bryant also led Richland Springs with six tackles followed by 5.5 from Brandon Stewart, four from Lusty, and three each from Capps and Sutherland – who intercepted a pass.
For Sidney, Mike Lindeque passed for 68 yards and rushed for a 15-yard touchdown with 44 seconds left in the game to prevent a shutout. Jaxson Rucker and Lehman Lindque both caught three passes for 23 and 16 yards, respectively, and Brody Shrew added a 30-yard reception.
Next week, Richland Springs will square off with Oglesby (9-2) – a 48-30 winner over Calvert (5-5) Thursday – in the Class A Division II Region IV semifinals.

Coleman 62, Anson 12
ABILENE – The Class 2A Division I No. 5 Coleman Bluecats remained undefeated and earned a bi-district championship in a 62-12 rout of Anson Thursday night at Hugh Sandifer Stadium.
District 4 champion Coleman (10-0), which defeated District 3 fourth seed Anson (4-7) by a 33-6 count in Week 2, eclipsed its previous point tally before halftime in the rematch. The Bluecats led 14-6 after one quarter, 35-6 at halftime and 56-12 through three frames.
Coleman rushed for 425 of its 436 yards of total offense as Cort McFadden led the attack with 119 yards and a touchdown, Devinar Roberson chipped in 106 yards and two scores, Ryland Gentry contributed 79 yards and a touchdown, and quarterback Jadin Jackson finished with 77 yards and four trips to the end zone.
Jackson also completed passes to R.J. Wright and Braxton Smith.
Defensively, the Bluecats yielded 237 yards – 151 through the air and 86 on the ground – with three interceptions, including a 48-yard pick six by Smith in the third period.
Next week, Coleman will battle Post (5-6) – a 46-14 winner over Farwell (8-3) Friday – in the Class 2A Division I Region I area round of the playoffs.

Hawley 56, San Saba 9
The San Saba Armadillos’ season came to an end Thursday night at Gordon Wood Stadium following a 56-9 loss to No. 9 Hawley in the Class 2A Division I Region I bi-district round of the playoffs.
District 3 champion Hawley (11-0) limited District 4 fourth seed San Saba (2-9) to 98 yards of total offense – 83 rushing and 15 passing.
Quarterback Lance Taylor completed 2 of 13 passes with receptions of 10 yards by Drake Bryant and 5 yards by Skyler Romero.
On the ground, Wesley Lackey rushed for a team-best 99 yards and the Armadillos’ touchdown.
Defensively, Zuri Herrera recorded 10 tackles and a fumble recovery for San Saba, while Bryant and Franco Franco finished with seven tackles apiece. Bryant and Ethan Gonzales intercepted passes for the Armadillos.
Hawley advances to face Sundown (7-3) – a 52-13 winner over Sanford-Fritch (4-7) – in the Class 2A Division I Region I area round of the playoffs next week.

Muenster 55, Cross Plains 7
WEATHERFORD – The Class 2A Division II No. 2 Muenster Hornets brought the season to an end for the Cross Plains Buffaloes, 55-7, Thursday night in bi-district playoff action.
District 8 fourth seed Cross Plains (5-5) mustered just 58 total yards – 30 passing and 28 rushing – against District 7 champion Muenster (11-0), and the Buffaloes coughed up the ball three times.
The Buffalo defense yielded 525 yards – 374 in the ground and 151 through the air – but created two turnovers.
Kade Purvis completed 12 of 24 passes for 30 yards for Cross Plains, as leading receivers for the Buffaloes included Ryan Hopkins (7-21), Noah Moses (2-1), Spade Koenig (1-5), and Ryan Reed (1-5).
On the ground, Moses rushed for 17 yards, Cason Allen added 7, Hopkins tallied 3 and Dusty Wyatt finished with 1 yard.
Muenster moves on to challenge Seymour (7-4) – a 49-20 winner over Lockey (6-4) – in the Class 2A Division II Region II area round of the playoffs next week.
