BRADY – The Bangs Dragons completed their 2021 football campaign Friday night, suffering a 42-14 loss to the playoff-bound Brady Bulldogs.
Bangs (1-8, 1-4) trailed just 21-14 at halftime, but Brady (6-3, 4-1) – which will be the No. 2 seed out of District 2-3A Division II after sharing the league title with Sonora and Grape Creek – pulled away over the final two quarters.
The Dragons finished with 278 total yards – 190 rushing and 88 passing – and lost three turnovers, while the Bulldogs generated 337 yards and gave the ball away just once.
Bangs’ Guy Powell finished with 102 rushing yards, a touchdown and two fumbles while Skylar Minshew completed 8 of 14 passes for 88 yards with an interception and an 18-yard scoring toss to Weston Jundt.
Minshew added 60 yards on the ground, Ian Cortez rushed for 25 and Keygan Pitts tacked on a 3-yard carry.
Nate Stoffer led the Dragons with four catches for 28 yards, Ethan Ethridge hauled in three for 31, and Guy Funk made an 11-yard reception.
Brady will face Anthony (5-5, 2-2) at 7 p.m. Friday in Kermit to kick off postseason play.
