SAN SABA – The Class A Division I No. 5 Coleman Bluecats clinched at least a share of the District 4 championship and the league’s top playoff seed with a 49-7 road victory over the San Saba Armadillos Friday night.
Coleman (8-0, 4-0) generated 364 yards of total offense, with 318 of those coming on the ground, and gave the ball away only once. San Saba (2-7, 2-2) finished with 208 yards of total offense – 158 passing and 52 rushing – and committed four turnovers.
Ryland Gentry led the Bluecat rushing attack with 117 yards and a 38-yard touchdown, Cort McFadden chipped in 115 yards with a 68-yard score, quarterback Jadin Jackson tallied 55 yards and crossed the goal twice from 1 and 4 yards out, and Brent Bouldin tacked on 14 yards with a 1-yard touchdown carry.
Through the air, Jackson was 2 of 4 for 47 yards with a 39-yard completion to Braxon Smith and a 7-yard toss to Devinar Roberson.
Defensively, Smith returned interceptions 51 and 82 yards for a pair of Coleman touchdowns.
For the Armadillos, Lance Taylor completed 16 of 29 passes for 123 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions. Reagan Mejia also completed a 33-yard pass on his lone attempt. Tyler Johnson led San Saba with six catches for 71 yards, Wesley Lackey added six grabs for 37 yards, Mejia finished with three receptions for 13 yards, Drake Bryant caught a 22-yard touchdown and Franco Franco hauled in a 13-yard catch.
On the ground, Taylor led the way with 43 yards followed by Tegan Suiz with 27.
Defensively for San Saba, Zuri Herrera logged 14 tackles followed by Ethan Gonzales with 11 and Bryant with 10, while Lackey recorded an interception.
Coleman will host Winters (2-6, 1-3), fresh off a 55-21 victory over De Leon (0-9, 0-4), next week to wrap up the regular season.
Despite the loss, San Saba is still playoff-bound and will head to Cisco (7-2, 3-1), which downed Goldthwaite (4-5, 2-2) by a 46-13 count Friday night, looking to improve on its fourth-place positioning in the regular season finale.

Cisco 46, Goldthwaite 13
GOLDTHWAITE – The Goldthwaite Eagles were unable to hand the Cisco Loboes a second consecutive District 4-2A Division I loss as they dropped a 46-13 decision in Friday’s home finale.
Goldthwaite (4-5, 2-2) fell behind Cisco (7-2, 3-1) by a 12-0 count after one quarter, was down 26-13 at halftime and faced a 39-13 deficit after three stanzas.
The Eagles finished with 290 total yards – 203 rushing and 87 passing – with three turnovers, while allowing 391 yards – 307 on the ground and 84 through the air – with no takeaways.
For Goldthwaite, Jackson Patrick rushed for a team-high 108 yards and a touchdown and passed for 87 yards and another score. Luke Sanderson caught two passes for 28 yards and scored once while adding 21 yards rushing. Cason Guthrie also hauled in two receptions for a team-best 58 yards, while Seth Gardner contributed 49 yards in the rush game.
Defensively for the Eagles, Patrick led the way with seven tackles followed by Gardner and Mason Reven with five apiece.
Cisco quarterback Hunter Long rushed for 182 yards and five touchdowns to pace the Loboes.
Next week, Goldthwaite visits De Leon (0-9, 0-4), which is coming off a 55-21 loss to Winters (2-6, 1-3). With a win, the Eagles would lock up the third playoff seed from District 4-2A Division I barring a San Saba upset of Cisco, which would then lead to a three-way tie for second place.

Jacksboro 41, Comanche 34
COMANCHE – The road to the postseason out of District 5-3A Division II got a little tougher for the Comanche Indians, who are still alive in the postseason hunt despite a 41-34 loss to the Jacksboro Tigers in their home finale.
Comanche (1-8, 1-3) trailed Jacksboro (5-3, 3-1) by a 7-6 count after one quarter, 21-13 at halftime, and 28-19 through three periods of play.
The Indians produced 427 yards of total offense – 268 on the ground and 159 through the air.
Luke Wilson rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown and caught two passes for 76 yards and two more scores from Hudson Welch, who completed 10 of 17 passes for 159 yards and three scores to go along with 74 yards and a touchdown rushing. Chris Reeves added a 7-yard scoring reception while Layden Welch finished with a team-high four catches for 44 yards.
Sawyer Wilkerson contributed 60 yards to the rushing effort, Raymond Crossley hauled in two receptions for 14 yards and Israel Medrano caught an 18-yard pass.
Defensively for Comanche, Hudson Welch registered a team-high 10 tackles and picked off a pass. Layden Welch eight added tackles followed by Diego Gutierrez with seven, and Reeves with six. Dom Rios recovered a fumble to go along with his four tackles.
Next week, the Indians venture to Merkel (3-6, 0-4), coming off a 45-21 loss to Eastland (4-5, 3-1). Comanche can clinch a playoff berth with a victory next week and a Millsap (4-5, 2-2) loss to Jacksboro. Friday night, however, Millsap pulled a 44-41 upset of Dublin (7-2, 3-1).

Evant 71, Zephyr 21
EVANT – The Zephyr Bulldogs concluded their season with a 71-21 loss to the Evant Elks in the District 15-A Division I finale for both teams Friday night.
Stats for the game were not available.
Zephyr finished the year with an 0-10 record, 0-3 in district, while Evant went 5-5 and 1-2 against league foes. Neither team advanced to the postseason.

Blanket def. Brookesmith (forfeit)
The Blanket Tigers improved to 8-1 and 3-0 in league play with the win, picking up at least a share of the District 15-A Division II title and the No. 1 playoff seed in the process. The Tigers will visit Panther Creek (3-5, 1-2) next week, which is coming off a 70-44 loss to Rising Star (5-4, 2-2).
Reigning District 15-A Division II champion Brookesmith is now 1-8 overall and 0-3 in league play and out of postseason contention.
