LUBBOCK – Bangs Lady Dragon senior Hannah Parson qualified for the UIL Class 3A girls cross country state meet based on her performance at the Region I-3A meet at Mae Simmons Park Monday.
The top four teams and top 10 runners not on a state-qualifying team advance to Old Settlers Park in Round Rock on Nov. 6, and Parson will be among the field after placing 16ht overall – and eighth among runners on non-qualifying teams. in a time of 13:27.2.
The Lady Dragons as a team placed 16th at regionals, tallying 376 points. Holliday (31 points), Crane (132), Canadian (148) and Tornillo (178) advanced to state, and Holliday’s Hannah Spears turned in the top time of 11:54.9.
Along with Parson, those competing for the District 8-3A runner-up Lady Dragons were senior Hadley King (44th, 14:18.6), freshman Joey Newton (103rd, 15:04.03), junior Rylie Guerrero (127th, 15:33.2), senior Sydney Hager (143rd, 16:10.4), junior Anna Weedon (160th, 16:49.9), and sophomore Kirsten Poling (172nd, 1:49.26)
Early was also represented at state by junior Madison Torrez, who finished 21st in a time of 13.48.4.
