Lady Lions drop third straight match, falling in five sets to Gatesville

Facing a two-sets-to-none deficit, the Brownwood Lady Lions rallied to force a tiebreaking fifth set, but ultimately dropped a 25-22, 25-16, 13-25, 18-25, 15-11 decision to District 6-4A rival Gatesville Friday night at Warren Gym.

The loss was the third in a row for the Lady Lions (18-10, 2-4) – all in district action – marking their longest skid of the season. Gatesville (27-4, 4-2) remained tied with Glen Rose (22-11, 4-2) for second place in the league standings, leaving Brownwood alone in fourth with two matches remaining.

The Lady Lions received 10 kills apiece from Olivia Folwer and Tessa Goodwin, nine from Jaylen Savage, six from Gracie Boswell, four from Kylie Morris and one from Kassidy Wooten.

Kylie Wooten dished out 34 assists while Goodwin contributed three.

Fowler served six aces trailed by Kylie Wooten with three, Boswell with two and Ashlyn Harris with one.

Defensively, Kassidy Wooten led the with 22 digs followed by 21 from Morris, 17 from Goodwin, 15 from Kylie Wooten, 11 from Fowler, eight from Boswell and three apiece from Savage and Harris.

Morris and Goodwin both collected four blocks, Boswell added three, Savage tallied two, and Fowler chipped in one.

The Lady Lions will attempt to return to the win column at 6 p.m. Tuesday as they venture to Lampasas.
