GLEN ROSE – The Brownwood Lady Lions slipped to 2-2 in District 6-4A volleyball action, and 18-8 on the season, with a straight-set road loss at Glen Rose Friday that wrapped up the first half of league play for both teams.
In the 25-18,25-16, 25-20 loss to Glen Rose (20-11, 2-2), Brownwood received a team-high seven kills from Olivia Garcia followed by five each from Jaylen Savage and Tessa Goodwin, four apiece from Kylie Morris and Gracie Boswell and one by Jordan Northcutt.
Goodwin distributed 10 assists, Kylie Wooten added seven, and Fowler and Ibis Alvarado chipped in one apiece.
Fowler and Boswell both finished with a pair of aces while Goodwin and Kassidy Wooten served one each.
Defensively, Boswell led the way with 16 digs trailed by Goodwin with 14, Fowler with 12, Kassidy Wooten with nine, Kylie Wooten with six, Morris with five and Savage, Northcutt and Ashlyn Harris each with one.
At the net, Morris, Savage and Boswell each logged two blocks while Goodwin contributed one.
The Lady Lions are back in action 6 p.m. Tuesday as they venture to district-leading and 15th-ranked Stephenville (22-10, 3-0) – which was slated to face Gatesville (25-6, 2-1) Friday night – to start the second half of league action.
