PFLUGER FLY-BY: President Biden is lying about the Border Crisis

This week, I joined my Republican colleagues on the Homeland Security Committee in sending a letter to President Biden excoriating his administration for misleading the American people and failing to acknowledge the border crisis or secure the southern border.

Not only have there been over 1.5 million illegal crossings along the southwest border so far this fiscal year, but the numbers are even more disturbing when we look closer at the details.

9,728 individuals with criminal convictions have been arrested in FY2021 attempting to illegally cross the border, compared with just 2,438 in FY2020. Recently-departed Border Patrol Chief Rodney Scott has publicly said that the US Border Patrol is seeing known or suspected terrorists cross the borders “at a level we have never seen before.”

On top of this, his administration has repeatedly misled the American people. Secretary Mayorkas has repeatedly told me and my colleagues on the Homeland Security Committee that our borders are closed and “the border is secure.” The facts don’t lie. The border is neither closed nor is it secure.

Why is the Biden Administration refusing to be transparent with the American public about the number of known or suspected terrorists that have crossed the border this year?

I encourage you to read the whole letter and get the true and startling facts about what is happening on the ground at our southern border.

Read the full letter here.

Biden Weaponizing DOJ Against Parents

Following a despicable letter from the National School Board Association that accused dissenting parents of being “Domestic Terrorists,” President Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland released a memo encouraging federal intervention in state and local school board meetings.

This is just another disturbing example of the Democrat party’s efforts to restructure our society and seize control of our lives—and the lives of our children—while silencing dissenting opinions.

Parents have the absolute, undisputable right to raise their children and make decisions about what they are taught in the classroom. Any attempt to muzzle the voices of parents and further-politicize education is antithetical to what we stand for as Americans.

Permian Basin Honor Flight

The Honor Flight gives our Nation’s heroes the chance to come to Washington, D.C. and see the memorials built to remember and honor those who have, or have been willing, to lay down their lives for the flag.

We can never repay them, but we must always remember and recognize their service and sacrifice.

Camille and the girls joined me in welcoming nearly 100 veterans in the Permian Basin Honor Flight to DC at the World War II Memorial. It was an incredibly meaningful day. I want to recognize Jan Lentz and Cayssia David from our San Angelo office, who both volunteered to serve on the trip.

As we get closer to Veterans Day, I encourage you to start thinking about how you can personally recognize and honor a veteran in your life.
