The Brownwood Country Club is hosting the 43rd Annual Senior Women’s West Texas Golf Association Championship Oct. 3-7.
The field will consist of 72 ladies, all members of an organized club or member of the LGA or WGA of a dues paying Municipal Club, Golf Club, Semi Private Club, or Private Club within the bounds of the West Texas limit. These range from as far north as Amarillo, south to Kerrville, west to Midland/Odessa, east to Brownwood and Wichita Falls.
All ladies must have reached their 50th birthday by the first day of the annual tournament. It will begin with practice rounds for the qualifiers (lowest handicap of top 16 players). These qualifiers will play a round of stroke play, Monday morning, to determine the Championship and 1st flight. The full field (all flights), begin match play on Tuesday and will conclude on Thursday.
The tournament’s theme this year is Western Swing and the festivities will be centered around this theme. Thursday morning we offer a stroke play tournament (the “Last Dance”), for those not in the main draw tournament. It is based on Gross & Net play.
Tee times for match play begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Brownwood’s Sally Brown is currently serving as the SWWTXGA and the tournament director is Diane Roberts, both members of Brownwood Country Club.
