A local business has new owners. Mickey and Taylor Westerman purchased Brown County Meat Market on September 1. While Mickey is a native of Brown County, Taylor grew up in Pennsylvania. She met Mickey on a job in Ohio, married him and moved to Texas four years ago. The couple now has three children, including 3-year old twin girls.
Brown County Meat Market features high-quality meats of all kinds: beef, poultry, pork, and seafood. Steaks are cut to order. They carry specialty items such as oxtail, cow tongue, bacon-wrapped asparagus, Wisconsin cheese, and farm-fresh eggs.
Taylor said they like to stock meat from local producers, such as Kennedy Sausage from Santo, Miller Sausage from Llano, and grass-finished beef from Midway Cattle Company in Priddy. They also plan to have turkeys and hams for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Brown County Meat Market is located at 111-B Early Blvd., across the road from the La Botana Mexican Restaurant. Hours are Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., and Saturday 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
