GHOLSON – The Blanket Tigers are now in the midst of their second win streak of season, tallying a second straight victory Friday night, 66-0 over Gholson.
Leading the charge for Blanket (4-1) were Brayden Day with 60 rushing yards and three touchdowns of 3, 30 and 16 yards, to go along with a 12-yard reception; Levi Vazquez with 93 yards on the ground and a touchdown; Carlos Morales with 59 yards rushing and two scores, along with two catches for 22 yards; and Brandon Larance with 26 yards on the ground and a trip to the end zone.
Defensively for the Tigers, Ayden Wheeler returned a Gholson (0-5) fumble 65 yards for a touchdown and recorded six tackles. Vazquez recorded a team-high seven tackles with two forced fumbles and an interception, Day also finished with six tackles, and Morales recorded five tackles.
Next week, Blanket hosts Evant (4-1), which defeated Penelope, 62-16, Friday night.

Coleman 63, Colorado City 13
COLEMAN – The Class 2A Division I No. 11 Coleman Bluecats kept their unblemished record intact with a 63-13 homecoming rout over Colorado City Friday night.
Coleman (4-0) jumped out to a 28-7 lead over Colorado City (0-4) after one quarter, which grew to 42-7 at halftime. All points were scored during the first three stanzas.
The Bluecats compiled 425 yards of total offense – 339 rushing and 86 passing – with no turnovers, while allowing just 57 yards – 44 on the ground and 13 through the air – with three takeaways.
Quarterback Jadin Jackson rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown while completing 6 of 12 passes for 86 yards with another score. Ryland Gentry chipped in 75 yards on the ground with two scores, and a 45-yard reception.
Devinar Roberson rushed for a 53-yard touchdown and returned a kick 80 yards for six points, R.J. Wright tacked on 59 rushing yards and a score, and Brent Bouldin finished with 14 yards on the ground and a trip to the end zone.
Braxton Smith caught a team-high three passes for 71 yards, including a 58-yard scoring reception, and Denver Hunter (9 yards) and Christian Espitia (6 yards) also made catches.
Hunter also returned an interception 50 yards for a touchdown as well.
Coleman is off next week, then begins District 4-2A Division I action Oct. 8 at De Leon (0-5), which lost to Seymour, 55-7, Friday night.

Cross Plains 37, Miles 32
CROSS PLAINS – The Cross Plains Buffaloes stretched their win streak to three games, collecting a 37-32 homecoming victory over the Miles Bulldogs Friday in their pre-district finale.
Trailing 20-18 in the third period, Cross Plains (4-1) reeled off three consecutive touchdowns to build a 37-18 edge over Miles (1-4). Dusty Wyatt’s 14-yard touchdown run put the Buffaloes up for good, then Cross Plains added insurance on a 16-yard scoring sprint by Ryan Hopkins and Noah Moses returned an interception 85 yards for a touchdown.
Cross Plains finished with 360 yards of total offense – 287 rushing and 73 passing – with four turnovers, while Miles generated 437 yards – 250 through the air and 187 on the ground – with three giveaways.
Kade Purvis completed 8 of 16 passes for 73 yards with three touchdowns for the Buffaloes, as Hopkins caught six passes for 60 yards and all three scoring receptions.
On the ground, Moses rushed for 157 yards and a touchdown, Cason Allen added 50 yards, Hopkins chipped in 48 yards and Wyatt finished with 36 yards.
Cross Plains is off next week, then begins District 8-2A Division II action Oct. 8 at home against Hico (2-3), which lost to Winters, 48-7, Friday night.

PAINT ROCK – The Zephyr Bulldogs failed to put a halt to their winless start to the 2021 campaign as they fell to Paint Rock, 35-14, Friday night.
Stats for Zephyr (0-5) and Paint Rock (4-1) were not available.
Next week, Zephyr visits Cherokee (2-2), which upended Cranfills Gap, 60-35, Friday night.

Christoval 43, Goldthwaite 28
GOLDTHWAITE – The Goldthwaite Eagles were unable to keep pace with the Christoval Cougars, who eventually pulled away for a 43-28 victory Friday night in the non-district finale for both teams.
Goldthwaite (2-3) led 14-7 in the second period, but Christoval (4-1) reeled off four consecutive touchdowns to open a 35-14 advantage by the end of the third quarter.
The Eagles finished with 313 total yards – 259 rushing and 54 passing – but lost a pair of turnovers. The Cougars generated 341 yards, with 276 coming on the ground, and only lost the ball once.
Goldthwaite quarterback Jason Patrick rushed for 60 yards and a pair of touchdowns and threw for 54 yards and two more scores.
Lane Evans led the Eagles’ rushing attack with 93 yards, Carsyn Campbell chipped in 46 yards, Luke Sanderson added 30 and Cutter Campbell finished with 26 yards.
Cason Guthrie caught two passes for 44 yards, including a 26-yard touchdowns, the Eagles, while Cutter Campbell hauled in a 10-yard scoring toss.
Goldthwaite is off next week, then begins District 4-2A Division I action Thursday, Oct. 7 at Gordon Wood Stadium in Brownwood against San Saba (0-4), which fell to Dublin, 38-24, Friday night.

DUBLIN – The San Saba Armadillos again came up short in their bid to collect their first victory of 2021 in their pre-district finale, falling to the Dublin Lions by a 38-24 count.
San Saba (0-5) generated 313 yards – 219 passing and 94 rushing – as Lance Taylor completed 19 of 32 passes with a touchdown, while Tyler Johnson caught four passes for 27 yards with a trip to the end zone and rushed for 3 yards and a score. Weston Oliver chipped in 35 yards on the ground and a touchdown.
Reagan Mejia led San Saba with 97 yards receiving on four catches and Drake Bryant grabbed four receptions for 86 yards. Wesley Lackey rushed for a team-high 51 yards for the Armadillos.
Dublin (4-1) finished with 530 yards of total offense, including 431 passing as Chris Teten completed 22 of 41 passes with four touchdowns and three interceptions. Cooper Hubble caught five passes for 121 yards, Tyler Harrell added five grabs for 119 yards and Christian Ramirez finished with four receptions for 144 yards. Mosiah Lolohea chipped in 88 yards on the ground.
Defensively for San Saba, Zuri Herrera and Dylan Ware recorded a team-high 10 tackles apiece, and Bryant, Lackey and Aden Huron intercepted passes.
San Saba is off next week, then begins District 4-2A Division I action Thursday, Oct. 7 at Gordon Wood Stadium in Brownwood against Goldthwaite (2-2), which fell to Christoval, 43-28, Friday night.

Cisco 41, Comanche 14
CISCO – The Comanche Indians were denied their first win of the 2021 campaign and Jake Escobar coaching era as the Class 2A Division I No. 4 Cisco Loboes prevailed, 41-14, Friday night.
Comanche (0-5) led 7-0 after one quarter, but Cisco (4-1) charged in front 21-7 at halftime. Down 21-14 through three quarters, the Indians yielded three more touchdowns in the fourth period.
Three Indians attempted a pass as Hudson Welch went 5 for 5 for 62 yards and two touchdowns, Miguel Martinez was 3 of 4 for 53 yards and a score, and Layden Welch completed a 1-yard pass.
Kyler Beaty led Comanche with four catches for 79 yards, Martinez added two grabs for 9 yards, and Ayden Fishback (16 yards), Chris Reeves (8 yards) and Layden Welch (3 yards) tallied one reception each.
On the ground, Luke Wilson churned out a team-best 63 yards followed by Layden Welch with 16 and Martinez with 12 yards.
The Indians finished with 210 total yards – 115 passing and 95 rushing – to the Loboes’ 370 yards, which featured 315 on the ground.
Cisco quarterback Hunter Long rushed for 239 yards and three touchdowns and added 55 yards passing.
Comanche is off next week, then begins District 5-3A Division II action Oct. 8 at home against Dublin (4-1), defeated San Saba, 38-24, Friday night.
