HAMILTON – The early season struggles for the Bangs Dragons continued Friday night as they were handed a 62-21 defeat by the Hamilton Bulldogs and remained winless in the 2021 high school football campaign.
For the second straight game, Bangs (0-3) committed five turnovers – three interceptions and two fumbles – as Hamilton (3-1) was able to put the game out of reach before halftime.
The Dragons finished with 398 yards of total offense, including 318 rushing. Guy Powell led the charge with 204 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, while Skylar Minshew chipped in 54 yards rushing and Damien Santillanes added 30.
Through the air, Skylar Minshew connected on 5 of 7 passes for 73 yards while Kade Minshew was 2 of 7 for 7 yards. Zack Ferguson caught a team-high three passes for 33 yards while Ian Cortez hauled in a 15-yard touchdown reception and Guy Funk pulled down a 5-yard grab.
Defensively, Nate Stoffer led Bangs with 8.5 tackles followed by Keygan Pitts with 7 takedowns.
Next week, the Dragons venture to Class 2A Division I No. 9 Hawley (4-0), which chalked up a 49- victory over Winters Friday night.
