JV, Freshman Lions pick up road wins over Burnet

BURNET – The Brownwood JV Lions improved to 4-0 Thursday with a 35-0 victory over the Burnet Bulldogs.

The JV Lions, who have outscored their opponents 148-6 thus far, were led by quarterback Ike Hall who threw three touchdown passes. Hayden Noe hauled in two scoring receptions and Jake Jetton grabbed the third. Hall and Logan McKibben also ran for touchdowns.

The Lions defense posted their third straight shutout behind the strong play of defensive lineman Daylan McGee, linebacker Chris Robinson, and safety Colton McMillian.

Freshman Lion 8, Burnet 6

BURNET – The Brownwood Freshman Lions collected their third straight victory Thursday night, edging the Burnet Bulldogs, 8-6.

Brownwood’s touchdown was the result of a 51-yard interception return by Ross Stasner, and Noah Gonzalez converted the two-point try for the decisive points.

Burnet reached the end zone in the fourth quarter, but the Lions turned away the two-point try.

Defensive standouts included Strasner with 5 tackles and a pick 6, Weston Wolf (5 tackles, TFL, QBP), Tyler Roberts (4 tackles, 3 TFL), Antonio Ybarra (3 tackles, QBP, TFL, 1 Sack), Robert Trowbridge (4 tackles, 2 TFL), Enrique Vasquez (3 tackles, TFL), and Trae Jones (5 tackles).

In the Combined Team’s 8-0 loss to the Hico JV Thursday at Gordon Wood Stadium, defensive standouts included Neveah Menefield (5 tackles, TFL), Jonathan Bush (5 tackles), Ty Tindol (4 tackles, TFL, Forced Fumble), Gray Stewardson (4 tackles), Cistol Lopez (5 tackles), Jaiden Gordon (4 tackles), and Treyvon Mitchell (2 tackles, TFL).
