HICO – The Brownwood Lady Lions finished fourth as a team, while the Brownwood Lions sent four competitors to the Hico Invitational cross country meet Wednesday morning.
The Lady Lions tallied 95 points which trailed meet champion and District 6-4A rival Glen Rose (52 points), De Leon (93 points) and Goldthwaite (94 points).
Sydney Windham paced the Lady Lions’ effort with a fifth-place time of 13:43.49 trailed by Kate Tindol (12th, 13:56.62), Talia Craff (20th, 14:14.6), Braycee Lee (26th, 14:18.38), Alma Bernal (43rd, 14:54.62), Kylea Karnes (71st, 16:12.93), and Ava Brownlee (72nd, 16:13.35).
Caleb Nelson finished seventh in a time of a 17:28.6 to lead the Lions’ performance followed by Vincent Floyd (26th, 19:23.75), Evan Fraze (40th, 20:40.6) and Aden Solis (46th, 20:57.57).
The Bangs Lady Dragons finished with 162 points as a team, good for sixth place, led by Hannah Person in third place (13:27.46) and Rylie Guerrero in ninth place (13:49.31). Other Bangs girls in action included Hadley King (42nd, 14:52.55), Sydney Hager (52nd, 15:15.94), and Anna Weedon (82nd, 16:35.4).
Running for the Dragons were Weston Scantling (77th, 23:52.77), Buenaventura Castaneda (83rd, 24:35.77), Malachi Fales (93rd, 26:52.44) and Caleb Freeland (95th, 26:55.9).
The Lions and Lady Lions are slated to compete again Sept. 18 at Gatesville, while Bangs, along with Early, are set to run in the Coleman Invitational on Monday.
