Lady Jackets soccer improves to 3-0 with win over Jarvis Christian

The Howard Payne Lady Jackets soccer team defeated Jarvis Christian College 3-0 in Monday action at Citizens National Bank Field.

In the 8th minute of the match, Alexandria Barnett scored the first goal making it a 1-0 game. The Lady Jackets kept the lead going into the 2nd half.

Lindsey Schiller scored the second goal of the match in the 54th minute.

Kaegan Sims made it a 3-0 game in the 80th minute of the match.

Lexi De La Cruz – the ASC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring two goals, including the game-winner, in a 5-4 win at St. Thomas –
recorded all 3 assists on the goals in match. Howard Payne out-shot Jarvis Christian 27 to three.

Goal Keepers Delaney Castor and Emily Williamson both played 45 minutes in todays match and recorded 3 saves each.

The Howard Payne Lady Jackets move to 3-0 on the season. This is the best start in HPU women’s soccer history.

The Lady Jackets will take on Texas Lutheran Bulldogs Friday, Sept. 10th at 2:00 p.m. in Seguin

Jarvis Christian 2, Yellow Jackets 1

The Howard Payne Men’s Soccer team lost2 2-1 in Monday’s match against Jarvis Christian College at Gordon Wood Stadium.

Howard Payne got on the board first, scoring on an own goal credited to Mikel Santamaria. Jarvis Christian was scoreless going into the second period.

The Yellow Jackets were able to hold off Jarvis CC up until the 55th minute of the match. The Bulldogs scored again in the 57th minute to take the 2-1 lead.

Alexander Paz Recorded 4 shots with 3 on goal for the Jackets. Goalkeeper Josh Williams played all 90 minutes and recorded 10 saves.

The Yellow Jackets will take on Texas Lutheran Bulldogs for their next match on Friday September 10, at 4:30 p.m. in Seguin, TX.
