CLYDE – The Brownwood Lady Lions volleyball team moved 10 games over the .500 mark thanks to a pair of victories over Clyde and Idalou in a dual match Tuesday evening.
“Our team played together and everything we’ve been working for fell into place,” said Lady Lions third-year head coach Allison Smith, whose team improved to 14-4 on the season. “They kept their composure even being challenged and didn’t allow themselves to lose focus or momentum. They fought together and won together tonight through chemistry and being teammates.”
Brownwood began its day with a 25-15, 25-5, 25-12 triumph over Idalou.
Olivia Fowler led the attack with nine kills followed by Jaylen Savage and Tessa Goodwin with eight apiece, Gracie Boswell with five, Jordan Northcutt with four, Kylie Morris with two and Ibis Alvarado with one.
Kylie Wooten distributed 25 assists while six each came from Goodwin and Ashlyn Harris, and Morris, Boswell, Kassidy Wooten, and Molly Oliver were credited with one apiece.
Kylie Wooten also served 10 aces followed by Morris and Fowler with three apiece and Goodwin with one.
Defensively, Kylie Wooten logged three digs trailed by Morris and Boswell with two each and Fowler, Goodwin and Alvarado with one apiece.
Savage recorded six blocks while Fowler, Morris and Goodwin finished with one each.
The Lady Lions followed with a 25-21, 25-22, 25-23 victory over Clyde.
Goodwin paced the offense with 10 kills trailed by Fowler with seven, Morris and Boswell with six apiece, Northcutt with five and Savage with three.
Kylie Wooten dished out 25 assists with Goodwin contributing 12, Kassidy Wooten adding five and Boswell being credited with one.
Fowler, Goodwin and Kylie Wooten each served three aces, Boswell chipped in a pair and Savage finished with one.
Defensively, Fowler collected 11 digs with eight each coming from Goodwin and Boswell, five from Kassidy Wooten, three from Kylie Wooten and one from Savage.
Savage, Morris and Northcutt each chalked up two blocks while Fowler, Goodwin and Boswell tallied one apiece.
Brownwood will return to action at 4:30 p.m. Friday when it visits Godley.
