The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Wednesday morning:
On Tuesday, August 24, 2021, Officer Roberto Rodriguez initiated a traffic stop in the 800 block of Melwood St.
Upon approach Officer Rodriguez identified the female driver and the male passenger. During his initial conversation with the driver, Officer Rodriguez detected the odor of marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle. Both adult occupants were asked to exit the vehicle for further investigation. During the course of the investigation, 3 small clear Ziploc style baggies were located just outside the vehicle by the passenger side door. These baggies contained a small amount of marijuana and a small amount of methamphetamine.
At the conclusion of the investigation, the passenger, 34-year-old Arthur Lopez of Brownwood, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1, Possession of Marijuana (under 2oz), Tampering with Evidence and a traffic warrant out of Brownwood Municipal Court.
