A two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning, between Early and Zephyr on Highway 84/183, sent at least three people to hospitals.
The wreck was reported between 9:00 am and 10:00 am about five miles south of Early. First responders arrived to find two vehicles involved, a pickup and a car.
Two Air Evac medical helicopters transported patients from the scene as did at least one Lifeguard EMS ambulance. One of the helicopters was said to be going to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. An ambulance that left the scene was said to be in route to Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood.
The wreck happened on a four-lane highway. All four lanes were closed to through traffic for a couple of hours. Several trucks and vehicles were sitting on the highway, waiting for the highway to reopen. Traffic was also diverted around Farm to Market Roads. TxDOT was called to clear the highway of debris. Wreckers were moving into place at 11:20 am to remove the vehicles. Both lanes of traffic were reopened at 11:42 am.
