Sam Wilson, age 87, of Coleman, died Sunday, August 1, 2021, at Coleman County Medical Center.
The family will host a visitation from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at Elm Street Church of Christ, 216 W. Elm Street, in Coleman with Terry Wilson, Johnny Wilson, and Bob Martin, officiating. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.
He was born Sam Oscar Wilson on October 14, 1933, in Harrold, Texas to Rollin Russel Wilson and Sameller Fayne Cox Wilson. Sam grew up in Harrold and graduated from Harrold High School where he was a proud Hornet Alumni. He married Bonnie Roberts on August 16, 1952, in Chillicothe, Texas. Sam and Bonnie relocated to Coleman in 1974. Sam owned and operated A&W Oilfield Supply for over 25 years. Sam also served as a minister at different locations in Texas. He helped organize and open the doors to Hillcrest Church of Christ in 1980. Through his actions and love for Jesus, Sam educated many people to know the word of God and salvation. Sam was a good man helping the community of Coleman any way he could. He loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him.
Bonnie preceded Sam in death in 2013. He then married Carlie Justice on March 28, 2015, in Coleman. They have enjoyed the past six years with each other’s family and taking care of each other.
Sam is also preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Wanda Spikes, Barbara Patterson, and Peggy Koch.
He is survived by his wife, Carlie Wilson of Coleman; his children, Terry Wilson and wife DeAnn of Sudan and Carol Williams and husband Johnny of Coleman; five grandchildren, Misty Needham, Rowdy Morgan, Cole Morgan, Kenzi Green, Landon Wilson, and Jimmy Williams; his great-grandchildren, Autum, Austin, Kaylee, Natalee, Montana, Taylor, Sadi, Ethan, Ceely, Cason, Emmalyn, Roadie, Dakota, Cooper, Tierni, Jace, Cooper, Brecc, Cambri, and Bentlee; his great-great-grandchildren, Lucas, Owen, and Creed; and four brothers, Jackie Wilson of Henrietta, Russel Wilson and wife Marie of Forestburg, Johnny Wilson and wife Linda of Tyler, and Ray Wilson and wife Belinda of Wichita Falls.
