Members of North Lake Community Church, 3131 Harbor Drive in May, Texas, have started a new ministry which focuses on fire departments in Brown County and the men and women who volunteer their time to serve their fellow citizens.
The Firehouse Saints of the Lord ministry began their outreach Thursday, July 1, by delivering water to volunteer fire departments in May and Blanket communities. Steve Howard accepted the water delivery on behalf of the May Volunteer Fire Department while Robert Rodgers accepted on behalf of the Blanket Volunteer Fire Department.
“This is a relationship of encouragement, a way to say thank you for what they (volunteers) do and to be there for their families,” said Ron Keener, pastor of North Lake Community Church.
Keener said plans are to continue providing the 10 volunteer departments in Brown County with water, Gatorade, watermelon, food and encouragement.
“It’s on-going, month after month,” Keener added.
Some North Lake Community Church members also plan to make things for the volunteers to keep and treasure.
Church members present for the deliveries included Jessica Tomme, Conrad Salyer, Dee Hart, Linda Lemond, Janet Nash, Teresa Hobbs, Bobby Payne and Marla Renfro.
