Tammy Rene Kelley Johnson, age 62, of Brownwood, passed away Monday, June 14, 2021. A graveside service for Tammy will be held on Thursday, June 17, at 10:00 AM in the Fairview Cemetery with Russell Williams officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
Tammy was born on November 13, 1958 to Davy and Helen (Brown) Kelley in Pampa Texas. She attended Reagan High School in Austin and later went to college in Houston. She married Kirk Johnson June 12, 1984 in Bastrop. Tammy had many hobbies, and she never worked a day in her life. She enjoyed working as a city bus driver in Austin for many years, and also as an admin for the parole division at TDCJ. Tammy loved playing Bingo; she was a member of both the Brownwood and Bangs VFW. She also loved making trips to Las Vegas to go gambling; her favorite games were on the slot machines. Tammy also loved fishing with her husband Kirk, as they went deep sea fishing, and lake fishing many times together. She also traveled to many places with Kirk. They visited Saint Petersburg in Russia, and Mexico area resorts on many occasions. After a lengthy illness, Tammy is no longer in any pain, and is rejoicing with her Lord and Savior.
Tammy is survived by her husband of 37 years, Kirk Johnson of Brownwood; son, Jason Wayne Welch of Austin; father, Davy Kelly of Brownwood; brother, Randall Kelley and wife Kelly of Brownwood; niece, Kerri Bynam and husband Wes and their son Murphy of San Angelo; and nephew Dalton Kelley of Austin. She is also survived by a number of other added family members. Tammy is preceded in death by her mother, Helen Earlene Kelley; father and mother-in-law, Corwin and Evelyn Johnson; and her beloved fur babies, Katy and Tosha.
