Dave Campbell’s Texas Football revealed its Class A preseason football rankings Tuesday, and a couple of familiar faces appear.
In Class A Division I, the May Tigers, coming off a state championship game appearance, are ranked No. 3 heading into the season. The Tigers are coming off a 13-2 campaign with both losses at the hands of state champion Sterling City.
In Class A Division II, the Richland Springs Coyotes, who also advanced to the state final, are ranked No. 2 following a 12-1 campaign a year ago. The Coyotes will be seeking their 10th state championship this season and lead the six-man ranks with nine state crowns.
The rest of the Division I rankings include No. 1 Sterling City, No. 2 Borden County, No. 4 Westbrook, No. 5 Ranking, No. 5 Jonesboro, No. 7 Blum, No. 8 Leakey, No. 9 Abbott and No. 10 Springlake-Earth.
Comprising the remainder of the Division II squads are No. 1 Motley County, No. 3 Strawn, No. 4 Balmorhea, No. 5 Groom, No. 6 Calvert, No. 7 Follett, No. 8 Klondike, No. 9 Jayton and No. 10 Anton.
The high school football season begins the weekend of Aug. 26-28.
